How much does an Enhance-Ion cost?
The complete Enhance-Ion kit is $515 inc GST supplied direct from Australian Ultra Violet — this includes the unit itself plus the Australian-approved Powertran M9379A 24V AC transformer needed to power it. Shipping is a flat $25 Australia-wide. Professional HVAC installation is additional and arranged separately — either through one of our authorised resellers or through your own qualified HVAC contractor.
Will Enhance-Ion work with my existing ducted air conditioner? How many units do I need?
Yes — Enhance-Ion is designed to retrofit into virtually any residential ducted HVAC system. Sizing comes down to the airflow of your system, which roughly correlates with how big the home (or zoned area) is.
One Enhance-Ion unit is typically suitable for:
- Apartments and townhouses
- Small-to-medium family homes — generally up to about 3-4 bedrooms or systems serving floor areas under approximately 180-200m²
- Ducted systems under about 700 L/s airflow
Two Enhance-Ion units may be recommended for:
- Larger family homes — 4+ bedrooms, or floor areas above approximately 200m²

Is bipolar ionisation safe? Does it produce ozone?
The Enhance-Ion produces zero ozone. Older ionisation technologies sometimes did, but Enhance-Ion uses a modern needlepoint design that generates ions without any harmful byproducts. Bipolar ionisation has been used safely in occupied buildings — including hospitals, schools and cruise ships — for decades.
Do I need to replace my filter when I install Enhance-Ion?
No. Enhance-Ion makes your existing filter more effective — you keep using whatever filter your ducted system was designed for. The performance gain is greatest with standard MERV 7 filters (+38% capture rate). Continue replacing your filter on its normal schedule (typically every 3-6 months).
How much electricity does it use?
Almost nothing — between 0.36 and 0.64 watts. Running the Enhance-Ion 24/7 for an entire year costs less than a single cup of coffee in electricity.
Can I install it myself?
No. The manufacturer specifies that installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC or electrical contractor. Self-installation will void your warranty.
How is this different from a HEPA filter or an air purifier room unit?
Room air purifiers only treat the room they’re in. Enhance-Ion treats every room your ducted air conditioning reaches. As for HEPA: most residential ducted systems physically can’t accommodate a HEPA filter because the airflow resistance is too high.
What maintenance does it need?
Every 3 months or so, your HVAC contractor should gently dust off the emitter needles with a soft brush or air duster. No parts to replace, no annual service required.
